HDFC Bank Share Price: Stock tumbles 50% after adjusting to bonus issue - Check details

HDFC Bank Share Price, HDFC Bank Bonus Issue: The stock of the private lender has been falling for the last three days, dipping 2.5 per cent during this period.

Shares of HDFC Bank turned ex-bonus in the ratio of 1:1 on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Post adjusting for the bonus issue, the counter opened at Rs 982.20 on the BSE. However, some trading apps briefly displayed the unadjusted price, resulting in a significant fall of around 50 per cent from the previous close of 1,964.10. The counter fell further to touch the low of Rs 968, a fall of 1.45 per cent from the adjusted closing price of the last trading session. Last seen, it was trading at Rs 973.30. 

The stock of the private lender has been falling over the last three days, with a 2.5 per cent dip during this period.

Technically, the stock trades lower than the 5-day, 20-day, 50-day, 100-day and 200-day moving averages.

HDFC Bank Share Price History

According to BSE Analytics, the stock has given a multibagger return of 283 per cent in 10 years. While it has increased by 24 per cent in two years, it has risen by 18 per cent in one year. In one month, the stock has corrected 2.75 per cent. 

HDFC Bank Bonus Issue 

The private lender announced the issuance of a bonus issue in the ratio of 1:1. This means that a shareholder will receive one additional equity share for every one equity share held as of the record date, i.e., August 27, 2025.

"The Board of Directors of HDFC Bank Limited (“Bank”) had approved the issuance of bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1 i.e. 1 equity share for every 1 equity share held by the shareholders as on the record date i.e. August 27, 2025 (“Record Date”)," the company said in an exchange filing. 

Stock Market Today

The Indian benchmark indices began trading in the red on Tuesday. While the Nifty 50 fell 167.90 points or 0.67 per cent to trade at 24,799, the Sensex declined 546 points, or 0.67 per cent, to 81,089 in the opening trade. Most sectoral indices traded in the red, with the Nifty Metal index slipping 1.04 per cent.
