Micromax launches budget phones priced at Rs 699

New Delhi: The budget mobile handset Micromax has unveiled two new low-cost devices Joy X1800 and Joy X1850, with prices starting at Rs 699. The company is targeting consumers looking for affordable devices as back-ups to their smartphones.

Both these smartphone have a 1.77-inch (128 x 160 pixels) QQVGA colored screen, dual SIM support, a rear camera, Bluetooth 3.0, expandable memory up to 4GB, FM Radio, Flashlight and more.

"The durability and long battery life of the devices make them ideal for consumers seeking a back-up device," Micromax said in a statement.

While the X-1800 is available already, the other handset will be available in the retail stores in a week's time, it added.

The main highlight is that these Joy series of smartphones come in pouch packaging rather than box. This is the first ever pouch packaging phones in the Indian market claims Micromax.

"We introduce products which offer great value to the consumers. With the launch of Joy series, we have taken a lead yet again by offering a unique combination of innovative packaging and great value through our offerings," Micromax CEO Vineet Taneja said.

The Micromax Joy X1800 has a durable body, dust-proof keypad and packs a 750mAh battery that promises standby time of up to 235 hours and 3 hours of talk time. It also has a 1.76 inch screen, 0.08MP camera, expandable memory up to 4GB and Radio FM and priced at Rs Rs 699.

The Micromax Joy X-1850 comes with same features but with a larger 1,800 mAh battery that promises 25 days standby and 7.5h talk time, will be available for Rs 749.

Both the sets would go on sale across India in a week.

The company also appointment of Shubhajit Sen as its Chief Marketing Officer.

At Micromax, he will be tasked to focus on leading all marketing efforts for the company across markets while strengthening the overall brand communication.
