New Delhi: Facebook is getting ready to launch a news reader called Paper, designed to compete with Flipboard, according to re/code. The technology blog claims the website could appear as early as the end of January.
It will be a mobile-focused news reader app and will be similar in nature to the popular social news reader Flipboard. That means it would collect articles from a variety of sources including status updates from Facebook and articles from partner media companies.
Re/code says it's unclear whether Paper will be a standalone app or just a web experience designed specifically for mobile.
The project holds importance given Facebook's push towards news, and if successful, Paper could help push engagement and advertising on the social network.
