New Delhi: As part of its attempts to expand its Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi will be hosting an event in Beijing tomorrow where the company could launch its first-ever smart bicycle, the teasers suggest. The event will start at 2:00 PM Beijing time, which is 11:30AM IST.

The teasers that were launched by the company showed a part of the cycle’s rear tyre as well as the tail light. It also showed a small HUD mounted on the cycle’s handle that had a display that would show the bike’s speed, distance covered, and also all the fitness-related parameters.

Reports also claimed that that the upcoming cycle is built by IRiding, a startup that is a part of Xiaomi’s ecosystem. This smart bike is likely to be aimed at professionals with a price tag $3,000 (Rs 2,01,900 approx.). At this price, you will get a cycle that is built using carbon fiber to keep the weight down to 7kg, and also loaded with sensors that will monitor different aspects of the rider.

Xiaomi will also launch a budget-friendly electric bicycle soon, which boasts a small battery-operated motor that assists pedaling. This electric bike will be available at a price between $450 - $550 (Rs 30,200 - Rs 37,000 approx.).

Earlier Xiaomi had launched products in several categories starting from smartphones and tablets to wearables, Internet-connected air and water purifiers, TV series, Yeelight bedside lamps, Mi Power Banks, Mi Wi-Fi nano wireless routers, Yi Action Camera, Mi Rainbow 5 AA batteries, two-wheeled self-balancing scooter and more.
