Bengaluru: Medikoe, an online platform to connect people with healthcare and wellness service providers, has developed an app that can instantly alert five of your chosen friends and the emergency care unit of Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, in case you face with an emergency.

The new SOS (Sensor Observation Service) feature on Medikoe's app allows the customer to alert five people about the medical emergency including the geo-location, as well as get automatically directed to the first level emergency consultation by Manipal doctors, an official statement said.

If need be, they can also get access to an ambulance rushed to the emergency location as fast as possible, the statement added.

To avail the service, all that one needs to do is to download the free app from Google Play store and feed it with some personal data including name and age, provide numbers of five of your friends and activate the SOS button in case of emergency, Sreevalsan Menon, founder and CEO of Medikoe, said.

"Living independently in metro cities these days can be risky for older adults, senior citizens or ailing individuals. Moreover, we come across cases of emergencies like road accidents quite often. When we encounter, finding the right number to call in a hurry becomes tough," Menon said.

The Medikoe app aims to fill this gap, he pointed out.

"By joining hands with a holistic platform like Medikoe, we will be able to provide total monitored emergency medical assistance during any crisis situation. Capitalizing on Medikoe's wide reach, we will also help the patients and community at large, save precious lives during the 'golden hour'," Sudarshan Ballal, chariman, Manipal Health Enterprises, said.
