RJD leader Misa Bharti replies to PM Modi's 'lantern lights up just one house in Bihar' jibe

It is pertinent to note that, PM Modi earlier slamming the RJD has said, "In this age of LED bulbs, there is also a lantern here in Bihar. A lantern that lights up just one house. This lantern has spread only darkness in Bihar."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar's Patliputra for the poll campaign on Saturday saw an intensified war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the I.N.D.I.A. bloc parties, including the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

While PM Modi held a series of attacks on the INDIA bloc leaders during the rally, raising concerns about the bloc's repeated attempts to undermine constitutional principles by conspiring to allocate SC/ST/OBC quotas to their 'vote bank,' however, what caught strong furor among them (opposition) were PM Modi's apparent two remarks—the lantern that lights up just one house (aimed at RJD) and the opposition performing ‘mujra’ to please their vote bank.

Now, in reply to PM Modi's jibe at RJD, which said, "this is the era of LED bulbs and people in Bihar are roaming around with a lantern, and it has only lightened up just one house," Misa Bharti hit back.

She said, "The electricity bill that people are getting is high due to the privatization. If the INDIA alliance forms the government, we will provide 200 units of free electricity. There is still 'lantern rule' in Bihar."

Meanwhile, the RJD leader also slammed PM Modi for his 'mujra' remark against the opposition. Speaking to the media, she expressed her stern reaction to PM Modi's comment.

She said, "These are the sanskaar of PM Modi. He uses such words for the opposition, but the people of the country support the INDIA bloc. All the members of the alliance are with the public and their issues."

Moreover, Bihar's former Deputy Chief Minister and Bharti's brother Tejashwi Yadav also lamented the PM's remark. "As elections are proceeding, language is degrading further. PM Modi is using such language that even his supporters are not liking it. Bihar is the land of democracy. They should talk about work," he said.

Further, it is pertinent to note that several other INDIA bloc leaders also expressed their furor in reply to PM Modi's comments.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, taking to X (formerly Twitter), wrote, "Today, I heard the word 'mujra' from the mouth of the Prime Minister. Modiji, what is this state of mind? Why don't you take something? Amit Shah and JP Nadda ji should get him treated immediately. Perhaps delivering speeches under the Sun has had too much of an effect on his brain."

RJD leader Manoj Jha, too, expressing his strong displeasure against PM Modi's statement, said, "I am worried about him now. Till yesterday, we disagreed with him, now we are worried about him. I had said recently that he is becoming a victim of delusion of grandeur. Machli, Mutton, Mangalsutra, and Mujra... is this the language of a PM?"
