New Delhi: In the aftermath of Paris terror attacks, the United Kingdom has witnessed 300 per cent rise in hate crime cases against Muslims living there.

According to a report published in The Independent, most victims of the hate crimes were Muslim girls and women aged between 14 to 45 in traditional Islamic dress.

"The vast and overwhelming majority of the victims are visible Muslim women between the ages of 14-45. This is concerning since the cases show that women who wear the hijab are the ones being targeted for general abuse and threats," the report reads, according to the The Independent.

The perpetrators of all such crimes were mainly white males aged from 15 to 35, it said, adding that the maximum numbers of the racial attacks were committed at public places, including on buses and trains.

Many of the victims said that no one came to their assistance or even consoled them after the incident, it further said.

The figures were compiled by the Tell Mama helpline, which records incidents of verbal and physical attacks on Muslims and mosques in the Britain.
