Congress candidate Pilli Chandrakala wins Ward Number 10 in the Haliya municipality of the Nalgonda district. The counting of votes at the Telangana's Nalgonda Municipaly started at 8 am today. Nalgonda district municipality went to the polls on February 11. Nalgonda district municipality inludes Chandur, Chityal, Devarakonda, Haliya, Miryalguda and Nandikonda municipalities. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) are the main parties in Nalgonda Municipaly. Notably, Nalgonda registered the highest polling at 77.36 per cent in the state.

Both BRS and BJP have arranged buses to take their candidates to camps in other states on Thursday night, instructing them to switch off mobile phones until counting concludes. Suryapet MLA and ex-minister G Jagadish Reddy has shifted about 48 BRS nominees to camps to prevent other parties from luring them. In the similar manner, BRS candidates from Bhongir and Chandur in Nalgonda and Yadadri districts were shifted on Wednesday night.

Over 73.01 per cent of voters exercised their franchise on Wednesday in the Municipal Elections in Telangana. The elections were held on a party basis in 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations. The outcome is being seen as a test of popularity for the ruling Congress and opposition BJP and BRS. Hoping to emerge as a credible alternative to both the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which earlier ruled the state for two terms, the BJP conducted a spirited campaign in municipal polls.
There are 2,582 wards across these 116 Municipalities in 32 districts of Telangana. However, the election is not taking place in six municipalities, as their terms have not yet expired.
In Chandur municipality, there are 10 wards where CPI won the municipality with 7 seats in 2020 and in Chityal municiplaity, the AIMIM won the municipality with six seats. In Devarakonda municipality, the the AIMIM won the municiplaity with 11 seats in 2020. In Haliya municipliaty the CPM won six seats out of 12 in 2020. In Miryalguda municipality, the AIMIM won 27 seats out of 48 and in Nalgonda, the CPM and the AIMIM won 20 seats each of out 48 in the last election. Moreover, in Nandikonda, the AIMIM won 9 seats out of 12 in 2020.
Last time, Municipality polls in Telangana were held in 2020. As many as 2755 wards went to polls across 121 Municipalities. In this election, TRS, now BRS, emerged as the largest party by amassing 1767 wards. Congress finished second registering victory in 580 wards. BJP garnered 311 wards while AIMIM won in 93. The CPI won in 20 wards while CPM registered victory in 12. Others and independent candidates won 321 wards.
The voting for the high-stakes local body polls took place on February 11. Over 52 lakh voters were eligible to exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 13,000 candidates. The Municipalities went to polls are: Jangaon, Station Ghanpur, Narsampet, Wardhannapet, Parkal, Dornakal, Kesamudram, Mahabubabad, Maripeda, Thorrur, Bhupalpally, Choppandandi, Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Dharmapuri, Jagtiyal, Korutla, Metpalli, Raikal, Sircilla, Vemulavada, Manthani, Peddapalli, Sulthanabad, Edulapuram, Kalluru, Madhira, Sattupalli, Wyra, Aswaraopeta, Yellandu, Adilabad, Bhainsa, Khanapur, Nirmal,Asifabad, Kagaznagar, Bellampally, Chennur, Kyathanpally, Luxettipet, Amangal, Chevella, Ibrahimpatnam, Moinabad, Shadnagar, Shankarpally, Kodangal, Parigi, Tandur, Vikarabad, Aliyabad, Muduchinthalapally, Yellampet, Armur, Bheemgal and Bodhan.
Other Municipalities that went to the polls include Banswada, Bichkunda, Kamareddy, Yellareddy, Alair, Bhongir, Chotuppal, Mothkur, Pochampally, Yadagirigutta, Huzurnagar, Kodad, Neredcheria, Suryapet, Tirumalagiri, Chandur, Chityal, Devarakonda Hakiya, Miryalguda, Nandikonda, Cherial, Dubbaka, Gajwel, Husnabad, Andole-Jogipet, Gaddapotharam, Gummadidala, Indresham, Isnapur, Jinnaram, Kohir, Narayankhed, Sadasivapet, Sangarreddy, Zaheerabad, Medak, Narsapur, Ramayampet, Thoopran, Bhoothpur, Devarakadra, Kosgi, Maddur, Makthal, Narayanapet, Alampur, Gadwal, Ieeja, Waddepalle, Amarchinta, Atmakur, Kothakota, Pebbair, Wanaparthy, Kalwakurthy, Kollapur, Nagarkurnool and Mulugu.
