Islamabad, Jan 17: A top official with Pakistan's new Twenty20 league says players from leading test teams South Africa, Australia and England have shown interest in playing in the tournament in March.

Salman Sarwar Butt, the managing director of the Pakistan Super League, says "we are thrilled by the number of players and agents from several ICC member countries showing interest."

Butt adds players from West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Ireland have also expressed interest in the five-team competition.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is scheduled to launch the PSL in late March with at least 30 foreign players divided in five city-based teams.

Pakistan has not hosted any test-playing teams since the deadly attack on the Sri Lanka team convoy in Lahore in 2009.
