Brisbane, Australia: From an early age, Shaun and Mitchell Marsh got a sense of what it would be like to play test cricket for Australia.

Their father, Geoff, played 50 tests for Australia and then had a stint as national coach when Stephen and Mark Waugh, and current coach Darren Lehmann were part of the team.

When they walk out together on Wednesday against India, Shaun and Mitchell Marsh will be the first brothers to play together in the baggy green caps since the Waugh twins last did it in 2002.

"When I played for Australia and coached Australia, my boys were in the dressing room running around and probably being a bit of a menace to people like (Lehmann) and the Waugh brothers," Geoff Marsh told the Australian Associated Press. "But then you see them growing up and you start to see they've got some talent.

"And you hear people talking about how they're going to play for Australia one day, and I'm sure in their own minds that was their dream — to play test cricket."

The 31-year-old Shaun Marsh will join 23-year-old allrounder Mitchell in the Australian lineup for the second test at the Gabba, replacing injured captain Michael Clarke. Shaun has played nine tests for Australia, and Mitchell has only recently forced his way into the test team.

Marsh senior isn't scheduled to make it to Brisbane, but has passed along his encouragement and congratulations.

"He's very proud and very happy that we've both been given an opportunity to play test cricket together," Shaun Marsh said.

They're the seventh sets of brothers to play test cricket together for Australia, a list that includes former captains Ian and Greg Chappell.
