IND vs SA 1st ODI Highlights: India seal thrilling win in final over, Corbin Bosch's effort goes in vain

India win the match by 17 runs. Prasidh Krishna got the better of Corbin Bosch in the second ball of the final over. South Africa's tremendous effort came to an end as India take 1-0 lead.

Corbin Bosch smacked a cracking six, which kept South Africa in the hunt but three consecutive dots from Arshdeep Singh kept India in the driver's seat. What a match this is turning out to be. 18 runs needed in the final over.

South Africa now need 27 runs off 12 balls. Excellent knock from Bosch so far. He will fancy his chances. The game is swinging like a pendulum at this stage. Again, it's difficult for the Proteas, but not impossible.

A misfield from Rohit Sharma saw the ball go to the boundary. Corbin Bosch completed his half-century in Ranchi. South Africa are 316/9

Excellent over from Arshdeep Singh. 38 runs now needed for South Africa to win the match. Difficult for sure, but not impossible. All eyes on Corbin Bosch, who is nearing his half-century.

Nandre Burger departs for 17 runs off 23 balls. Arshdeep Singh with his second wicket of the night. He tried to ramp it but simple catch for KL Rahul. South Africa are 312/9 

43 runs now needed in the final five overs of the match. What a contest we have in our hands. India are optimistic of their chances but South Africa can still chase it.

Six overs left and 50 runs are needed. Corbin Bosch keeps South Africa alive. He is on 44 off 32 balls.

Even though South Africa have lost eight wickets in Ranchi, they are not going away without a fight. 61 runs now needed in 7 overs as South Africa are 289/8. Game on?

Kuldeep Yadav picked up his fourth wicket of the night. Prenelan Subrayen departed for 17 runs as KL Rahul picked up a comfortable catch. South Africa are 270/8 now.

South Africa are 257/7 after 38 overs. They are way ahead of India at this stage. Again, it's just that the Proteas do not have enough wickets left. Regardless, they are not compromising on strike rate. South Africa need 93 runs to win in 72 balls.

South Africa are 242/7 after 36 overs. They now need 108 runs off 84 balls to win the match. Well, even though it doesn't look difficult but the Proteas have lost too many wickets, it seems. India should be confident in their chances.

Kuldeep Yadav struck again. He gets the better of in-form batter Matthew Breetzke. He departed for 72 runs off 80 balls. South Africa are 228/7 now. Game, set, match for India?

Kuldeep Yadav picked up the prized wicket of Marco Jansen. He departed after scoring 70 runs off just 39 balls. A fine knock came to an end. "That's a big, big, big, big, wicket" says Sunil Gavaskar in the commentary. South Africa are 227/6 after 33.1 overs. They now need 123 runs to win.

South Africa are 223/5 after 32nd over. The current rate is higher than the required rate and they will hope to keep up with the momentum to keep the pressure on India. 127 runs needed now in 18 overs.

Marco Jansen completed his half-century in just 26 balls. South Africa are 198/5. 152 runs are needed now in little over 21 overs.

Oh, Marco Jansen. He is in no mood to stop the onslaught. The all-rounder is 45 off 21 now. South Africa are 184/5 after 27 overs. 

15 runs off Kuldeep Yadav's over. Marco Jansen is having a good time in the middle with the bat. South Africa are 162/5 after 25 overs. Despite losing wickets at regaular intervals, they are just in no mood of giving up.

Matthew Breetzke completed his half-century in 55 balls. He played a perfect drive to Prasidh Krishna in the 24th over to complete his milestone. South Africa need something special from him tonight to get the job done.

Harshit Rana with his third wicket of the night. Dewald Brevis, who was batting well, departs for 37 runs off 28 balls. He tried for another maximum but failed to clear the rope as Ruturaj Gaikwad completed a simple catch. South Africa are 130/5

Even though South Africa have four wickets, South Africa are in no mood to slow down. Brevis and Breetzke complete a 50-run partnership as South Africa are now 130/4 after 21 overs. 

Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis launch a counterattack in Ranchi. South Africa complete 100 runs in the match. Their partnership holds key for the Proteas. 

Kuldeep Yadav got the better of Tony de Zorzi. The Proteas batter departed for 39 runs. South Africa were trying to stitch a partnership slowly, but Kuldeep put the break. End of the 15th over and they are 77/4. India can smell a victory now. 

South Africa are under immense pressure. Eight overs gone, they are 43/3. They now need a strong partnership from Tony de Zorzi and Matthew Breetzke to remain alive in the contest. India, in the meantime, introduce spin in the ninth over.

And now Arshdeep Singh joins the party. He dismisses Aiden Markram with a one that moved away from the right-hander. India right on top as they have sent South Africa 11/3 after 4.4 overs.

And Harshit has another. He is making the ball do the talking. On a good length, outside off, moves away from Quinton de Kock, who nicks it behind as Rahul pouches it. Two in the over for Harshit, India off to a flier.

And here's the first wicket. Harshit Rana draws first blood with the ball. This was on little fuller than the good length and kept coming in with the angle as Rickelton failed to read the line and the big gap between the bat and the pad meant the ball break the stumps.

The South African openers are out in the middle as the chase is on here in Ranchi. Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton to begin the charge for the Proteas, Arshdeep Singh has the new ball in his hand.

India have posted 349 runs in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav and Harshit Rana ran two in the final delivery. The chase is now on the other side.

KL Rahul's brilliant knock of 60 runs off 56 deliveries came to an end. He attempted to play reverse scoop but failed to time it as keeper Quinton de Kock picked up a regulation catch. Marco Jansen with his second wicket of the night.

India captain KL Rahul completed his century in 51 balls. He struggled to get going in the initial phase, but once Kohli departed, the keeper-batter changed the gear and is now on song. Still, the goal would be to touch the 350-run mark. 

KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are finally showing some intent in the middle. India are 313/5 after 46 overs. With only four overs remaining, the duo will be hoping to capitalise and help India post a defendable total on the board. Can they reach 350? That's the million-dollar question now.

A phenomenal knock from Virat Kohli came to an end. The former India captain made 135 runs off 120 balls, before Nandre Burger got the better of him. Ryan Rickleton grabbed an incredible catch to end Kohli's stay in the middle. India are 276/5

Virat Kohli keeps up with his outrageous innings. Rahul finally found a boudary, but he needs more of that to regain some momentum. India are 272/4 after 42 overs. 

Virat Kohli brings the house down in Ranchi. One fan has literally run on the pitch to touch his idol's feet as Kohli took his ring out of his shirt for a kiss after punching the air in delight. He knows, everyone know why this one meant so much and he now has 52 centuries in the format, one more than anyone in one single format. 

Virat Kohli has moved to 98 now. India are 225/4 after 36 overs. The goal is to finish well, or else the Proteas can bite back in the second innings.

All eyes are on Virat Kohli right now, who is nearing his century. He is in his 90s now. KL Rahul has joined him in the middle after Washington Sundar walked back to the pavilion. India are 214/4 after 34 overs. 

Ottneil Baartman has struck once again and South Africa are slowly getting back into the game. Washington Sundar trying to get it over the mid-off fielder, but a towering Corbin Bosch pouched it nicely with a nicely-timed jump. The left-hander walks back and Baartman has two now.

A stunning catch from Dewald Brevis ended Ruturaj Gaikwad's stay in the middle. Batting at four, he made 8 runs off 14 balls before Ottneil Baartman got the better of him in the 27th over of the match. Washington Sundar joined Virat Kohli in the middle. The latter is on his way to his 83rd century.

Marco Jansen got one to skid through the surface and Rohit has been plumb LBW here. Jansen has broken the 134-run stand between Kohli and Rohit by dismissing the latter. Kohli thought about taking a review for once, but Rohit seemed to suggest that it was hitting in line and the replays showed that the batter was right.

Rohit and Kohli are motoring along and South Africa are feeling the heat. Kohli brought up his fifty with a couple of sixes, while Rohit is slowly reaching the mark and South Africa desperately need to break this partnership as India are slowly getting into a 350-400 zone.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are slowly getting into their own and South Africa are finding no answers to counter the two giants of the format. India have gone past the 100 mark in the 14th over and Tony de Zorzi might be thinking about that dropped catch in the fourth over.

Virat Kohli is making a mockery of the South African bowlers. Kohli has nonchalantly danced down the track once to Nandre Burger and then against Ottneil Baartman as these are ominous signs for South Africa.

Tony de Zorzi on the square leg boundary has dropped a sitter and Rohit gets an early life. Rohit tried to pull Burger on a shortish delivery but didn't get it enough from the meat of the bat. It still was timed well and rather too well, straight into the hands of the fielder and de Zorzi has fluffed it.

It's that uncertain off-stump channel once again from Burger and Jaiswal has nicked it to the keeper Quinton de Kock. Jaiswal was looking to go after the bowlers and had a poke at a delivery which he could have left and India have lost an early one in the fourth over. Virat Kohli arrives in the middle with a huge applause.

Jaiswal has been the aggressor for India, taking on both the left-arm pacers Jansen and Nandre Burger and is countering whatever both have thrown at him, well, for now.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are in the middle for India and will be looking to give the Men in Blue a good start. Marco Jansen has the new ball and the left-hander will have to counter the pace and bounce of the tall bowler once again.

India's rotten luck with the tosses continues as they have lost 19 consecutive tosses in ODIs. India last won a toss in the ODI World Cup 2023 semifinal.

KL Rahul is India's captain in the ODI series against the Proteas as the injured Shubman Gill is not in the squad.

"We would have bowled first as well. The preparation has been good, the energy is there with a lot of players coming back, we want to enjoy ourselves in the middle. That's what the chat has been, we need to use every opportunity we get in the ODI team, this is a great chance to challenge our skills against a very good team. Three spinners and three quicks for us today," Rahul said at the toss.

Temba Bavuma and Keshav Maharaj have been rested today, Aiden Markram leads in his absence.

"We'll bowl first. Spent a couple of evenings, dew at night time and it'll be slightly easier to bat at night. Different personnel, the dressing room is at a good place with a lot of energy and fun. It's an important series, the end role the 2027 WC, still a bit of time, but we're up against one of the best teams in the world. Just one spinner in Subrayen, I will bowl a bit - Temba and Maharaj have been rested, four seamers for us today," South Africa stand-in skipper Markram said at the toss.

South Africa have won the toss and have opted to bowl first. India will be batting first in the first ODI in Ranchi.
