Agatha is the daughter of former Lok Sabha speaker P A Sangma. She became part of the council of ministers from NCP quota as her father was a founder member of NCP. When P A Sangma resigned from NCP to contest the Presidential elections, Agatha campaigned for his father and against the candidate of ruling UPA alliance. Agatha was later dropped from the cabinet.
