New Delhi: The recent Digvijaya Singh and Amrita Rai affair has aroused interest in love stories involving Indian politicians. There are many politicians in India who first got into relationships and then married their lovers.

2. Chand-Fiza


Chander Mohan, son of former Haryana CM Bhajan Lal, was happily discharging his duties as Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana.All of a sudden, he stopped attending office in November 2008. In fact he was dismissed from the State Cabinet for his prolonged absence from the office. He had fallen headlong in love with the state government's assistant advocate general Anuradha Bali.

On January 11, 2009, he appeared before media with Anuradha Bali. He informed the media that he had married Anuradha after both of them converted to Islam. He had adopted a new name ‘Chand Mohammad' while Anuradha had changed her name to ‘Fiza'.

Within a fortnight of this announcement, Chander Mohan deserted Anuradha and went back to her first wife and family. He also reconverted to Hinduism at a Bishnoi temple.

On March 14, 2009, Chander Mohan divorced Anuradha alias Fiza.

On July 25, 2012, she celebrated her 41st birthday but the very next month , on 6th of August, she was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house in Mohali.




3. NTR-Laxmi Parvathi


Three time Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and film star N T Ramarao fell in love with Lakshmi Parvathi, her biographer, at the fag end of his career, after he was dislodged by his son-in-law N Chandrababu Naidu.

In 1993, at the age of 70, NTR  announced his decision to marry Lakshmi Parvathi. He later on married Lakshmi Parvathi but his family refused to accept her.

NTR died, and Chandrababu Naidu took on his legacy. Lakshmi Parvathi floated a party, drew good crowds, but lost the polls.

NTR's family never accepted Lakshmi Parvathi as part of the family. Even N Chandrababu Naidu, the CM of Andhra Pradesh and son-in-law of NTR,  does not like her.
