New Delhi, Jan 24: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi told party leaders here Wednesday that he wanted to reduce "negative politics".

He met party leaders and All India Congress Committee (AICC) members at the Congress headquarters at 24, Akbar Road in the national capital Wednesday evening.

The 42-year-old leader said the party members have to work hard to implement the Jaipur Declaration adopted at the Chintan Shivir (introspective meet) and he would meet party general secretaries and other leaders collectively and individually.

"Some leaders told me I need to implement what I said in Jaipur. The focus is the party and I will take a feedback on the views of leaders," said Rahul Gandhi.

Party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi later said that Rahul Gandhi's meeting "was just an informal one and he had a brief interaction with senior leaders".

Rahul Gandhi said he wanted to try and reduce "negative politics" and get into "positive politics" which would take the country forward.

He said he wanted to make the Congress "accessible to as many people... this is my sentiment".

He said that political discussions tended to be "extremely acrimonious, fighting with each other over small reasons. I want to try and reduce that, I don't want to get into negative politics, but want to get into positive politics as that is what will take the country forward".

"We are a dynamic country and this country can do wonders. I feel a lot of the discussion is negative. There is a lot of positive things happening everyday. Many youngsters are transforming things," he said.
