New Delhi: While the record-setting International Day of Yoga on Sunday drew masses to the avenues and venues for the grand event across the country, some leaders were excited to hit the microblogging site Twitter early in the morning.

President Pranab Mukherjee tweeted: "Yoga has amazing curative & preventive powers for the management of modern lifestyle related disorders."

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tweeted: "I wish International Yoga Day to all. But this tamasha of community yoga is utter waste of public money and is only image building for Modi."

Alka Lamba, an Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Congress member, tweeted, "Great session n Good Experience ...let's see if we can continue n get the benefit of it ... Happy #YogaDay."

Simultaneously, there were tweets from people supporting yoga efforts made in the past by Congress leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, trending #YogisofCongress on Twitter.

#InternationalDayofYoga has been one of the most trending topics on Twitter for the past few days, with tweets from all over the world.

"Yoga is about tranquility & inner peace, Sadly BJP & Modi Ji trivialised it by commercialising it for their own cheap PR. #YogisofCongress," said a tweet from Ashok Choudhary, a Congress leader from Bihar.
