New Delhi: The Janata Parivar combine on Monday named Nitish Kumar as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
"Nitish Kumar will be chief ministerial candidate of JD(U)-RJD alliance. Lalu Prasad had proposed his name," Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said here.
Earlier in the day, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said that Congress will be part of the JD(U)-RJD alliance for the upcoming polls.
"Congress is definitely involved in the talks over the Bihar polls. Rahul Gandhi and I discussed various issues in Delhi," he said.
When asked about seat-sharing issue, Kumar said, "Three members each from RJD and JD(U) will meet tomorrow and have a discussion on it."
Elections to Bihar's 243-member assembly are likely to be held in September-October.
