Patna: Nitish Kumar, who is set to take oath as Bihar Chief Minister fourth time, will not have a deputy CM in his cabinet.

It was speculated that one of two sons of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav could be made deputy CM under a power sharing formula. But as per the latest reports, it is highly unlikely that there will be a deputy CM in Bihar.

The decision was taken by Lalu as he feared that decision to make his son deputy CM by superseding more senior leaders of RJD could lead to discontent in the party.

A few of senior leaders including Raghunath Jha had even quit the party before the Bihar assembly elections, accusing Lalu of ‘indulging in family politics at the cost of party workers and senior leaders'.

Lalu consulted with Nitish Kumar before taking the decision.

Both of Lalu's sons Tej Pratap and Tejaswi Prasad won with huge margins in Mahua and Raghopur in recently concluded assembly elections in Bihar.

Nitish Kumar will take the oath as chief minister of Bihar on November 20. The swearing in ceremony will be organised at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

According to reports, the new cabinet will have 15 MLAs from JD(U),  16  from RJD and 6  from Congress party. According to the constitution, 36 ministers, including the chief minister, can be included in the new cabinet.

The leader of the alliance will be elected at a meeting in Patna of newly-elected legislators on Sunday.

The Mahagathbandhan registered a stunning victory in Bihar Polls by winning 178 seats, or a two-third majority, in the 243-member assembly. The BJP and its allies got a mere 58 seats.
