New Delhi, Jul 5: When BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi defended the barbed attacks of Narendra Modi describing him as Rambo in the Uttarakhand crisis, she hit back saying, at least a Rambo is better than a Dumbo (read Vijay Bahuguna) and Scambo (any of the scamsters). Meenakshi was then creating new words for the Indian political lexicon.Meenakshi Lekhi is one of the most promising female politicians of India . She is articulate, aggressive and to the point whenever she speaks on matters of political and socio-economic significance.She is blessed with the proverbial ‘gift of the gab' and that's why BJP, the party she belongs to, has entrusted her with the responsibilities of a national spokesperson. She is also the vice president of BJP Mahila Morcha. Meenakshi completed her graduation from Hindu College, Delhi. She got LL.B. degree from Delhi University. Enrolled with Bar Council of India in 1990, Meenakshi is a practicing Supreme Court lawyer. She also appears at Delhi High Court, other Courts, Tribunals and Forums on regular basis in Delhi and other parts of the country.Meenakshi has been part of the Drafting Committees for bills like “Women Reservation Bill” & “ Problem of Sexual Harassment at Workplace”.Meenakshi Lekhi is the daughter-in-law of eminent Supreme Court lawyer Prem Nath Lekhi. P N Lekhi appeared as a counsel for Satwant Singh, the man who had assassinated Indira Gandhi. Ironically, while Meenakshi is a staunch supporter of Narendra Modi and keeps defending his role during 2002 Gujarat riots,her father-in-law appeared for Zahira Sheikh, the Muslim girl who lost her family in the Best Bakery riots of 2002. Meenakshi's husband Aman Lekhi is a designated senior lawyer of the Delhi High Court. He is not in politics but has strong views on political issues.
