Lucknow, Apr 14: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today announced a financial assistance of Rs one lakh to Arunima Sinha, the sportswoman, who lost her leg after being pushed from a moving train.
"The CM while announcing the financial assistance has directed DIG Bareilly for a speedy inquiry into the case and ensure stern punishment to the guilty," an official spokesman said here.The CM has also asked the authorities to ensure proper care and treatment of the athlete, he said.
The 23-year-old national level football and volleyball player lost her leg after being pushed from Padmavat Express near Bareilly on April 11 night. PTI
