New Delhi: It was a very emotional moment for Narendra Modi, the PM designate, when he touched the feet of his one-time mentor Lal Krishna Advani after the meeting of BJP parliamentary board on Saturday.Advani has been unhappy with Modi from the time the later was declared as the Prime Minister candidate of the BJP at its Goa conclave.Modi was not in favour of Modi being projected as the PM candidate of the BJP. Advani was also reluctant to contest Lok Sabha elections from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency as he feared sabotage from Modi. Modi had to work very hard to persuade Advani to contest from Gandhinagar.During an election rally in Bhopal, Narendra Modi had also touched the feet of Advani but at that time Advani did not respond positively to Modi's gesture and did not even look at him when Modi was touching his feet.At that time, it looked as if the bitterness had reached its nadir.Advani, however, smiled and responded positively when Modi touched his feet this time.It should be recalled that it was Advani who played the role of mentor for Modi when he was trying to make a place for himself in BJP.In 2002, after Gujarat riots, it was Advani who defended Modi when the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee was insisting on the removal of Modi as Gujarat Chief Minister.Vajpayee, at that time, was of the opinion that Modi had failed to discharge his duty of ‘Raj Dharma'.
