Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday said he was approached by leaders of erstwhile Jana Sangh to join the outfit long back, but he eventually joined Congress.
Singh claimed that he had an offer from senior Jana Sangh leaders including Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia to join the party in 1970.
Addressing a gathering at a function to mark the 75th birth anniversary of veteran BJP leader Kailash Sarang here last evening, Singh said that Vijayaraje had sent him on a tour along with her son Madhavrao Scindia and Sarang himself.
"Sarang either failed to convince me properly or I failed to understand him and later joined the Congress," Singh quipped.
The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister told PTI today that apart from Sarang, another veteran BJP leader, Kushabahu Thakre had wanted him to join the Jana Sangh.PTI
