New Delhi, Nov 8: Amidst reports that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had entered a Kolkata police station to free her party men, BJP today charged goons who worked for Left parties in West Bengal have gone on “deputation” to Trinamool Congress.

“The goons who worked for Left parties have gone on deputation and taken a transfer to Trinamool Congress. They are showing their true colours now,” BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters in reply to a question.

There were reports that two Trinamool Congress members, who were detained at Bhowanipore police station in South Kolkata, were freed when Banerjee had stormed in and demanded that they be released. The men were arrested for rioting a few hours earlier.

Naqvi said if such TMC members continue to act in this brazen manner, the ruling party in West Bengal will start losing its popularity very soon.

BJP is still very cautious in criticising Banerjee, a former NDA ally, and when left with little option but to take on the TMC, it has landed only soft punches.

This was seen recently when several newborns died due to alleged medical negligence in government hospitals in West Bengal. BJP sought to pin the blame on the erstwhile CPI-M led government, which was in power for more than three decades, for the poor health infrastructure in the state.
