New Delhi: A day after Congress leader Digvijay Singh candidly acknowledged Rahul Gandhi's failure to attract the youth as one of the main reasons for Congress' defeat in the Lok Sabha Polls, Congress General Secretary Madhusudan Mistry has advised party members to voice their opinion within the party and not in public.

Digvijay Singh had opined that party vice-president should be “more visible and heard more” to bring the Congress back on the path of revival. Digvijay had admitted that admitted that Rahul Gandhi's silence on critical issues had contributed to their loss in the “war of perception” during Lok Sabha polls 2014.

The Congress General Secretary, considered to be one of the closest aides of Rahul Gandhi, expressed his opinion that Rahul's lack of communication made it easier for Narendra Modi to succeed in his anti- UPA campaign. Digvijay said that it's unfortunate that youth of the country prefer 63 year old Modi over a 44 year old Rahul.

Advising Rahul Gandhi to be more communicative, Digvijay Singh had said, “People of the country want to know what Rahul Gandhi stands for, what is Brand Rahul Gandhi.

The unfortunate part is that a 63-year-old leader attracts the youth while a 44-year-old leader could not attract them.”

Digvijay Singh's comments have created quite a stir within the party.

Taking exception to Digvijay's statement, Madhusudan Mistry said, “Whatever party members have to say, they must speak up within the party and not in public”.

Recently, Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan too came with his own set of views on why Congress didn't do well in elections. According to him, Dr Manmohan Singh's credibility was responsible for UPA victory in 2009 but it failed to work in 2014. Chavan said that it would have been better for Rahul, had he become a minister in UPA government.
