Congress will be blown away by winds of change, says Modi in Pune rally

Pune: Gujarat chief minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said winds of change are blowing across the country, and he doubted whether the Congress will be able to face the hurricane.Addressing a rally here, Modi said, UPA government had promised to bring down prices within 100 days. "Did they bring down the prices? Have prices come down, or gone up?" Modi rhetorically asked his supporters. The people at the venue replied with a resounding No. Modi said, only two governments headed by Morarji Desai (of which Bharatiya Jana Sangh was a part) and Atal Bihari Vajpayee reined pricerise under control, whereas all Congress and Congress-supported governments failed to control pricerise. "This country has seen all models of governance. I want all economists and political pundits to sit together and compare the governance models of different parties and arrive at a conclusion. Then the people will decide whether or not to bring BJP to power", said Modi. "Whenever BJP got the opportunity to come to power, it served the people and fulfil their aspirations. Prices were brought under control during BJP rule, whereas Congress governments failed to bring pricerise under control", said Modi. The Gujarat strongman said, UPA government is yet to show accountability about its performance during the last nine and a half years. "On the contrary, they are seeking accountability from me about Gujarat. Are the elections going to be held in Gujarat, or for the whole country?", Modi asked. When Modi referred to the media, a section of the audience rose to shout slogans against the media. Modi shouted them down, and asked them to sit. Modi said: "Media should seek accountability from the UPA about its nine and a half years rule"."I want to promise the people of this country. If BJP is elected in 2014 elections, we will give accountability about our performance every year, instead of waiting for five years.We will work at the Centre as the people's servants, not their rulers", Modi said. "Congress", he said,"is busy floating balloons. They are seeking accountability from Gujarat. We already gave our accountability in the December 2012 Gujarat elections".Lashing out at the UPA government, Modi said, Congress has failed to fulfil its promises to the people in 100 months. He asked the audience rhetorically: "Tell me, do people who make false promises deserve to stay in power for even a minute?""I have gone to all corners of India, and I find winds of change blowing. The hurricane that's going to come will blow away the Congress", Modi said. The Congress, Modi said, had been throwing mud at me for the last several years. "Many cases were instituted against me. They also used the CBI. And now, even they can;t trust the CBI. I don't know what other options they are going to choose. But I have the support of 125 crore people. I will live for them, and die for them".
