Majithia, brother-in-law of Punjab's powerful Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, is a revenue minister in the state. Phillaur is the jails minister.
The memorandum also sought the removal of another cabinet minister, Anil Joshi, who handles the local bodies portfolio, after the Election Commission recently recommended action against him and his family members for making bogus votes.
Joshi belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
