Arvind Kejriwal “ from 'crusader against corruption' to 'Delhi CM'

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Chief Minister of Delhi on Friday Feb 14.Arvind Kejriwal has worn many hats in his life. Starting off his career as a no-nonsense IRS officer, Arvind proved his mettle but resigned soon from government service as he always felt the urge within himself to raise voice against the systemic failure in the bureaucracy that had paralyzed the entire administration and had become the root-cause of corruption in the country.Arvind played an important role in the fight for ‘Right to information' bill that finally saw the light of the day after a long drawn and hard fought struggle and has proved to be a turning point so far as fighting corruption is concerned.After the RTI success, Arvind focused on the ‘Janlokpal bill' that is aimed at checking corruption at every stage- from panchayat to district level to the higher echelons of bureaucracy. Arvind joined hands with renowned social activist Anna Hazare to force the government to pass the legislation in parliament.The rigid stand of the government against Janlokpal bill forced Arvind to revisit his entire strategy. He realized that this bill cannot become reality unless and until he has the political power to make his voice heard in the legislature.Arvind and his core team, mainly consisting of Manish Sisodiya, Shanti Bhushan, Prashant Bhushan and Kumar Vishwash, decided to make the fight political by forming a political party and seeking people's mandate for the implementation of the bill.Arvind and his team's decision to make the fight political created fissures between Arvind and Anna and they finally decided to part their ways.His opponents laughed at his decision to form a political party (Aam Aadmi Party) and contest assembly elections. Despite all odds, Arvind Kejriwal led AAP shocked everybody and managed to win 28 seats in assembly elections.The ruling Congress party was relegated to third spot while the opposition BJP emerged as the single largest party with 31 seats.]The Congress party has offered to support Kejriwal led AAP from outside and Arvind Kejriwal will be taking oath as Delhi CM at Ramlila Ground.Even Arvind's critics don't doubt his personal integrity.
