Lucknow: Noting that contribution from NRIs can change the picture of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today urged them to ensure their maximum participation in the development of the state, especially the health sector.

NRIs have extended a helping hand in the development of the state, but their maximum participation is needed, Yadav said while launching "Swadesh", an NRI-related initiative.

"Like NRIs worked for development of Karnataka, it should be done here so that picture of the biggest state in the country can change," he said.

He appealed to NRIs to bring things like Karnataka in UP so that people could get quality services and added that the government would extend full support in this.

Yadav said he expected cooperation from the community especially in the health sector. He said he wanted a change in this sector.

It is the effort of the government to make the health department better, he said.

In the time to come, maximum work would be done in the health and IT sectors and major share of the Budget is being spent on these two, he claimed.

"Samajwad has come in two things-- first illness and second medicine. Whether poor or rich, the government is providing same treatment to all," he said.
