Union Budget to be presented a month in advance, says PM Modi

The government has decided to advance the presentation of Union budget by about a month to ensure speedier implementation of projects and schemes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced today.

The government has decided to advance the presentation of Union budget by about a month to ensure speedier implementation of projects and schemes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced today.  

Modi made the remarks during the 16th interaction through PRAGATI — the ICT-based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation.

The Prime Minister urged all States to align their plans with this budget advancement, so that they could take maximum advantage of this move.

"The Prime Minister mentioned that the Union Budgetpresentation is being advanced by about a month to ensure speedier implementation of projects and schemes. He urged all states to align their plans with this advancement, so that they could take maximum advantage of this move," a Prime Minister's Office release said.

 

India follows the April 1-March 31 financial year. Most countries follow a January-December fiscal year.

Generally, the Union Budget is presented at the end of February every year.
