The United States witnessed a shocking act of gun violence on September 10, when prominent right-wing leader and Turning Point USA chief Charlie Kirk was shot dead during a public event. The incident took place at Utah Valley University where Kirk was addressing an outdoor gathering. His killing has triggered uproar across the country and is seen as a major setback for US President Donald Trump, to whom Kirk was considered a close confidant. As per information, he played a crucial role in influencing young voters and was instrumental in Trump's political success.

Who was Charlie Kirk?

31-year-old Charlie Kirk was a well-known right-wing activist and one of the strongest supporters of Donald Trump. He worked with Trump's campaign team in the 2024 elections and was described by the President as a person who understood the pulse of America's youth. Known for his ability to connect with young conservatives, Kirk was a leading figure who advanced Trump's political agenda and inspired right-wing students.

Originally from Illinois, Kirk co-founded the conservative student group Turning Point USA at the age of 18 and soon rose to become a prominent Republican voice. He was also a staunch supporter of Israel, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once calling him a "lion-hearted friend of Israel."

Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika, a former Miss Arizona USA, and their two children. He enjoyed a massive following online, with 5.3 million followers on X. His radio program, The Charlie Kirk Show, attracted over 5,00,000 monthly listeners. He also authored and contributed to several books, including Time for a Turning Point and The College Scam.

How did the incident happen?

On the evening of September 10, Kirk was answering a question on mass shootings during an open forum at Utah Valley University when a bullet struck his neck, causing him to collapse from his chair. Witnesses reported panic breaking out as the attack occurred in full public view. He was rushed to a hospital in a private vehicle but was declared dead on arrival. Utah Department of Public Safety official Beau Mason confirmed that only one shot was fired and Kirk was the sole victim. Following the shooting, the university was immediately evacuated and classes were cancelled indefinitely.

Charlie Kirk's financial profile reveals significant wealth, largely built through his media presence and leadership of Turning Point USA. According to Celebrity Net Worth, his estimated net worth stands at $12 million. As per The Associated Press, Kirk owned three properties, each valued at over a million dollars, including a $4.75 million Spanish-style mansion in a gated Arizona golf community in 2023.

Kirk's earnings primarily came from public speaking engagements and his popular podcast and radio show. In 2020, ProPublica reported that his annual income from Turning Point USA had risen to $300,000. Around the same time, he also purchased a two-bedroom, two-bathroom oceanfront condo in Florida worth $855,000.
