The culinary tastes of famous people have always intrigued critics. Here are some bizarre eating habits of world leaders which may leave you feel that you are no different than these VIPs: 1. Margaret Thatcher's Maggie dietMargaret Thatcher, the first woman to become UK's Prime Minister had to lose weight before the 1979 elections. She had a strict diet regime; her secret diet included 28 eggs a week, grapefruit, black tea or coffee. The iron lady had two eggs each weekday lunch. Steak, fish, lamb chops were served in dinner. Through this crash diet plan which was for two weeks, she lost 20lb. 2. Evo Morales' dumb statement on eating chickenIn 2010, Bolivian President Evo Morales made headlines when he said that eating chicken makes one gay. He made this statement at the World People's Summit on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth in Cochabamba in 2010. He said that the chicken is full of female hormones and so when men eat it, they stray from being men. The LGBT(lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community called the comment ‘homophobic'. He loves Quinoa soup- a primitive food of the Incas. It is a sacred grain for the Bolivians. Evo considers western food ‘as a threat to humanity' blaming it for causing cancer and other diseases. 3. Richard NixonThe taste palate of Richard Milhous Nixon, 37th President of US was a simple one. He loved ketchup. When it comes to breakfast, he could even eat cottage cheese and fresh fruit garnished with ketchup. Rumor has it, a simple breakfast of cottage cheese and pineapple was his last presidential meal. 4. Kim Jong IlThe late North Korean leader had a sensitive palate. He could detect if the kitchen added a few grams too much sugar to the sushi rice. He was a hefty man, weighing more than 200 pounds and ate the choicest foods. His personal chef, Fujimoto made shopping trips around the world to pick up ingredients—to Iran and Uzbekistan for caviar, to Denmark for pork, to Thailand for mangoes, durians, and papayas. Fujimoto also claimed Jong-il wanted to try hippo, snakes and spiders – all washed down with cognac and fine French wine. 5. Winston ChurchillFormer British prime minister Winston Churchill ate for victory. He was very particular about his food. He was known for his hearty eating habits and the importance he gave to table talk. Fried fillet of sole wrapped in smoked salmon and garnished with scampi; or filet of roast deer stuffed with pate de foie gras served with truffle sauce: these high calorie dishes were his favorites. He always made sure that the Irish stew consists of ‘plenty of small onions and not much broth'. Nor was any meal complete without a glass of something chilled. He preferred decent drinks over others. Adding water to his brandy was considered a crime. 6. Barack ObamaObama is a diet conscious man. He loves low calorie foods and eats four to six eggs, potatoes, and wheat toast, and every now and then fruit, bacon, and oatmeal. Angela MerkelThe German Chancellor grew up in East Germany, where there was scarcity of food. She says the habit of hoarding food is still ingrained in her persona. Merkel loves to cook for herself, and her favorite foods stem from her roots – she loves letcho, a Hungarian vegetable stew, shashlik, a spicy kebab, as well as potato soup, trout and plum cake. 8. Vladimir PutinThe Russian Prime Minister has every meal tested for poison by qualified food tasters to make sure that his every meal is completely safe to eat. He loves pistachio ice cream and eats it in winter.
