Iran has banned the Pokemon Go app on account of unspecified "security concerns".

According to a BBC report, the decision was taken by the High Council of Virtual Spaces, the official body of Iran that oversees online activities.

Pokemon Go is an Augmented Reality (AR) game that uses Geo-location to allow players to use their smartphones to capture virtual Pokemon in real-life locations.

Iran has become the first country to issue a ban on Pokemon Go. The online game challenges players to visit real-world locations to catch cartoon monsters.

However, Iran is not the only country having worries over security related to the game.

Despite restrictions on internet usage Iranians on social media have been found discussing playing Pokemon Go in recent weeks.

According to reports available, Indonesia has banned police officers from playing the game while on duty.

Not only this,  a French player was arrested last month after straying on to a military base while trying to catch Pokemon.

A leading Saudi cleric recently said thyat a fatwa has been  issued against an earlier Pokemon card game also applied to the new mixed-reality app.
