Mumbai: A delegation of Mumbai women journalists today called on Maharashtra Governor and demanded security for women travelling in local trains.

The delegation complained that there were hardly any policeman in suburban trains, the time when most of the female journalists return home from work.

They complained that policemen were never seen on railway platforms or in local trains, though they are assigned duties to protect commuters.

The Governor promised to speak to the Railway Minister on this issue.

The women journalists also complained about rampant eve-teasing on the roads, in buses and autos plying in Mumbai. The Governor promised to speak to the chief minister, home minister and Mumbai police commissioner.

The delegation demanded stringent action against the five youths who gang raped a woman photo journalist intern inside a deserted mill compound in Mahalaxmi.
