New Delhi: Highlighting recent incidents of murder of women and elderly in Delhi in the Rajya Sabha, a woman BJP member today said she was scared living alone in the national capital.

"I feel scared...I live alone," Najma Heptulla said while drawing the attention of the Upper House to the growing number of murders of women and elderly in Delhi.

Raising the issue during Zero hour, the BJP member attacked the UPA saying law and order is bad in UPA-ruled states.

She said that after a series of incidents of rape, now the incidents of day-light murder especially of women and elderly people are happening in Delhi.

"On Monday, a woman's throat was slit. On Tuesday, six murders took place and the throat of two women were slit and four were murdered in one house. Earlier rape cases were happening in Delhi daily. After rape, now murders are happening especially of women and elderly," Heptulla said.

Referring to rationalist Narendra Dabholkar's killing, she said the entire House is in agreement that law and order in Maharashtra is bad after this murder in Pune.

"Law and order situation is bad in states where UPA is in power," she said.

Focussing her attack on Delhi, where assembly elections are due this year, Heptulla said, "I know that this government will not stay for long as elections are due."

She said she cannot even demand President Rule in Delhi as Union Home Ministry already looks after the law and order part and policing.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla said he will apprise the Home Minister of her concern.
