    FIR against farmers' leader, 41 others for misbehaving with officials

    An FIR has been lodged against 43 people, including a farmers' leader, for allegedly misbehaving with government officials here, police said. On Tuesday, a large number of farmers under the leadership of Khetihar Kisan Mazdoor Union national president Sudip Chauhan gathered in the mandi premises of Tilhar to hand over a memorandum listing their demands, including payment of remunerative prices for crops, to the administration. They reached Kachiyani Kheda temple, which will be moved for the construction of a national highway, for prayers. However, they soon entered into an argument with district administration officials and allegedly misbehaved with them, even calling them "chor" (thieves). Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sanjeev Bajpai said an FIR was lodged on Tuesday night by mandi secretary Jagdish Prasad against Chauhan, Prince, Chandan and 40 others unidentified people for obstructing government work and threatening officials.

    No terror angle has emerged during investigation of the murder case of Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (Prisons) Hemant Kumar Lohia, police said on Wednesday. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh said the interrogation of the accused is in progress and his disclosures are being corroborated with field investigation Kumar, a 1992-batch IPS officer, was found murdered with his throat slit at his friend’s house on the outskirts of Jammu late Monday night. The accused, 23-year-old Yasir Lohar who was working as a domestic help at the house, was arrested from a field in Kanhac

    Delhi: Woman arrested for duping neighbours of Rs 1 crore

    A 52-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly duping her neighbours of over Rs 1 crore on the pretext of high returns in a short period, police said on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Sarla Garg, a resident of Gurugram in Haryana. Garg allegedly organised kitty parties at her residence in west Delhi's Dwarka and duped 28 people of her society of Rs 1.01 crore. A case was registered following a complaint by the victims and Garg was arrested on September 28, Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said.

    Admission process for UG, PG courses at Delhi University's School of Open Learning begins

    The application process for admission to undergraduate and post-graduate programmes at Delhi University's School of Open Learning (SOL) began on Wednesday. In a notification, the university said admissions in UG courses being offered in SOL will only be based on Class 12 results. This is in contrast to the admission process at Delhi University's constituent colleges where admissions starting this academic session are being conducted through Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The last date of admission will be October 31. The SOL is among the most sought-after institute for distance learning in the country. It provides a variety of courses to students.

    2 more PFI ‘members’ booked under UAPA by Delhi Police

    Delhi Police has booked two Popular Front of India (PFI) “members” under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for their alleged suspicious activities, officials said on Wednesday. A senior police officer said an FIR has been registered against two PFI activists under IPC sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups), along with section 10/13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Khajuri Khas police station, for allegedly planning and conspiring against the government and the country. However, no arrests have been made yet in the matter, he said, adding investigation is underway. This is the second case registered under the UAPA against the PFI members in the national capital. Earlier, four persons allegedly linked to the outfit were arrested by Delhi Police under the Act. The Centre had on September 28 banned the PFI. Subsequently, Delhi Police conducted raids at PFI units spread across six districts of the city and detained 33 people allegedly linked with the group.

    No charge for RuPay credit card use on UPI for transaction up to Rs 2,000: NPCI

    There will be no charge for RuPay credit card use on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for transactions up to Rs 2,000 in line with the RBI direction, a recent NPCI circular said. RuPay credit card has been operational for the last four years, and all major banks are enabled and are issuing incremental cards for both commercial and retail segments. "During credit card on-boarding on the apps, the device binding and UPI PIN setting process shall include and be construed as customer consent for credit card enablement for all types of transactions," the circular dated October 4 said. For international transaction enablement, the existing process from the app will apply to credit cards too, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) said in the
    circular.

    One arrested for cybercrimes in Assam: Police

    A man was arrested in Bongaigaon district of Assam for his alleged involvement in cybercrimes, mostly in financial matters, police said on Wednesday. According to a senior officer of the Assam Police, multiple raids were conducted on Tuesday in the state in coordination with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). "We conducted the raids in Bongaigaon and Majuli on the basis of cases registered with the Assam Police. One person was arrested from Bongaigaon during the raid," he added. Another accused, hailing from Majuli, has been missing, with his family and locals claiming that he has not returned to the village since 2004, the officer told PTI.

    With Congress losing the chairmanship of parliamentary committee on Home Affairs in the latest rejig announced on Tuesday, all key parliamentary panels- External Affairs, Defence, and Finance- lie with the ruling BJP.     DCW issues notice to Delhi govt's divisional commissioner over acid sale

    The Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to the divisional commissioner of the Delhi government seeking action against those SDMs who have not been implementing rules to regulate the sale of acid. The Supreme Court had given several directions to the Centre as well as state governments to regulate the sale of acid to prevent acid attacks in the country. To regulate the sale of acid, the Delhi government had passed an order which empowered area Sub-Divisional Magistrate to impose penalty of up to Rs 50,000 for violations.

The CM rode a chariot decorated with flowers and was welcomed by members of Muslim and Sindhi communities as he distributed ‘prasad’ to them. The yatra started at 4.30 pm from Gorakhnath temple after Adityanath performed a puja of Guru Gorakhnath.     Uttar Pradesh: 2 minor girls killed after being hit by truck

    Two minor girls were killed after being hit by a truck here late on Tuesday night, police said. The driver has been apprehended and the truck has been seized, they said. Superintendent of Police Sankalp Sharma said the truck was moving towards Mohalla Garulpar at Kotwali intersection where there was a huge crowd of devotees who had gathered for the Dussehra fair. The truck lost control and hit Trisha Yadav (3) and her cousin Sakshi (13 years), killing them on the spot, the officer said. Another girl was also injured and was admitted to the district hospital, the SP said, adding that about a dozen motorcycles were also damaged in the accident. Some other people also received injuries, police said. Angry over the incident, locals created a ruckus. Police reached the spot and pacified the locals. Mild force was also used, officials said. The SP said police is taking legal action.
