New Delhi:

In a significant development, the Narendra Modi govt has reportedly given go-ahead for the formation of joint cyber, space and special forces teams for the three services.

According to a report in Economic Times, PM Modi recently informed top-ranking officers of Indian armed forces about the government's decision.

The new divisions will be formed for bringing on a single platform Army, Air Force and Navy’s personnel and assets.

The divisions are likely to be headed initially by two-star officers.

Though there was unanimity over the creation of space and cyber commands, there were differences over the structure of joint special forces.

However, the Narendra Modi government has now decided to create a special forces cell that will include commandoes from the three services - Marcos (Navy), Garuds (Air Force) and Para Special Forces (Army).
