Security forces have gunned down at least five terrorists in an encounter in Killora village of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian. Four terrorists were killed in military action on Saturday, while body of another terrorist killed on Friday night was also recovered by security forces. An AK-47 was also recovered along side the body of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist identified as Umar Malik.

The security forces cordoned off the area following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in Killora village on Friday evening and started a search operation there. The search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired upon the security forces party.

"We had info that a group of terrorists are there in the area (Shopian's Killora village). J&K police, Army, CRPF cordoned the area. A terrorist was killed in encounter last night. Firing was resumed today and bodies of 4 more terrorists were recovered. Operation has been called off now," J&K DGP SP Vaid told reporters.

In a separate encounter in Baramulla, two militants were killed by security forces on Friday. The killed terrorists were identified as Riyaz Ahmed Dar, a resident of Naseer Abad Chinkipora Sopore and Khursheed Ahmed Malik, a resident of Aarihal Pulwama. The two were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

An Army Jawan, Sawar Vijay Kumar, also lost his life in the gunbattle in Baramulla.
