New Delhi: In an already over crowded metro, a 55-year-old government official created nuisance by abusing co-passengers in the train and also slapped a constable at a police station on Monday night.

The man, who is also accused of breaking a TV set inside the police station, is no ordinary drunkard. The individual is posted in the Health ministry and had boarded the train from Central Secretariat metro station.

Drunk, the man started creating nuisance and was pushed out of the coach by passengers at east Delhi’s Shastri Park metro station, said Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible for the security.

“At 9:50 pm on Monday, the passenger was thrown out by fellow passengers. He was barefoot. He started abusing the passengers standing on the platform. The shift incharge went to him and asked him to come to the control room but he started arguing with him. Somehow, he was taken to the control room and Delhi Police was informed about it,” said a senior CISF official.

While Delhi metro claims to be committed to provide the highest standards of safety to each passenger and in case of violation of rules in Metro premises, the DMRC administration authorises station personnel to impose fine of Rs 500/ for creating nuisance and obstructing officials on duty.

However, the man was let off with a paltry fine of Rs 250.

He was taken to the metro police station by the CISF official where he slapped a constable who was speaking on the phone.

A senior police officer said, “He kicked on the table which broke the TV installed there. Later his family from Shahdara was called and they took him. He was fined for creating nuisance and no case was registered against him.”

His family was later called and he was handed over to them.
