Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik on Tuesday has been shifted to Jammu and Kashmir as the new Governor of the state. He will replace N N Vohra, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique.
Malik was the member of the 9th Lok Sabha. He represented Aligarh constituency between 1989 and 1991. Again, in 1996, he contested from Aligarh on Samajwadi Party ticket. However, he could manage the only fourth place.
During 1980-86 and 1986-1992, he was a member of Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh.

During 1974-77, he was also a member of Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh.
He is born to a farmer family in a village- Hisawada, in Baghpat. He is an alumnus of Meerut College.
