Student leaders claimed that the violence was initiated by the opposition leaders

Major protests erupted between student leaders after the declaration of the student union election results in the Allahabad university. Protesters set ablaze hostel rooms and even hurled bombs. Instances of clashes with police forces were also reported from the university campus.

Police even resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the agitating students. Student leaders claimed that the violence was initiated by the opposition leaders. Many student leaders were also arrested. The situation remains tense in the varsity campus.

ABVP suffered a major jolt in the elections as SCS and NSUI won major posts. Uday Kumar Prakash of the SCS was elected President, whereas Akhilesh Yadav of NSUI was elected Vice President. ABVP's Shivam Singh and SCS' Satyam Singh Sani were elected the General Secretary and Joint Secretary respectively.
