Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor were accompanied by Regina Cassandra and Rajkummar Rao also aplauded the small screen as it has even forced the Bollywood stars to work on the entertainment medium. On the other hand, the film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has already hit the screens on February 1 and has earned rave reviews. Not just the critics but audience as well are showering praise on the actors for taking up such a different topic and portraying the love story in a beautiful way..

The film has opened to good numbers at the box office. Trade analyst and Bollywood critic Taran Adarsh shared the updated box office numbers and wrote, "#EkLadkiKoDekhaTohAisaLaga had a lacklustre start, but picked up at select urban centres towards evening... Growth on Day 2 and Day 3 essential for a respectable weekend total... Fri ₹ 3.30 cr [1500 screens]. India biz."

India TV critic has this to say about the film, "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has a treatment similar to mainstream Bollywood masala film but still, it stands out as it makes you reflect on your inner self and different types of prejudices we hold. The story travels from Delhi to Moga, a small-town in the state of Punjab and so does the playwright Saahil Mirza (Rajkummar Rao), who follows his muse Sweety (Sonam Kapoor). It is love at first sight for him. Unaware of Sweety's sexual orientation, Saahil, in search of inspiration for his stories and 'siyappa' in his life tries to get closer to her. However, her long-hidden and suppressed reality shatters his dreams but that doesn't stop him from extending a helping hand."
