Mumbai, Feb 15: Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt will essay the role of a Gujarati gangster Sharman Munjha Jadeja in Soham Shah's next, co-starring Vivek Oberoi, says a media report.
So far, Sanjay has done the role of an underworld don, quite successfully, in many films including Vaastav, Plan, Aatish and Jung.
And now, for the first time, the actor will be seen portraying the real life gangster Sharman Munjha Jadeja from Porbandar, Gujarat.
The film will be directed by Soham Shah and co-produced by Ashtavinayak.
Interestingly, Shah, Dutt and Ashtavinayak were earlier supposed to work on the remake of Satte Pe Satta, which has now been put on the backburner.
A spokesperson of Ashtavinayak Cine Vision said: "We are extremely thrilled to join hands with Sanjay Dutt productions. The film will go on floors in May. After this one wraps up, we will start work on Satte Pe Satta."
Sharman Munjha was better known as the Robinhood of Gujarat.
The Munjha family ruled Porbandar and other places in Saurashtra in the 80s.
"Soham came up with the idea of making a film on Sharman," revealed a source close to the project and added, "Sanjay Dutt loved the idea so much, he readily agreed to produce the film as well."
The film will also star Vivek Oberoi in one of the male leads. Chitrangdha Singh is likely to play the leading lady.
Incidentally, a film Godmother has already been made on the life of Sharman Munjha's wife Santokben Jadeja earlier.
"Soham's new project will now go on floors on May 2. It will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule. It will be one of the most expensive films of the year," the source added.
