Bollywood actor Salman Khan  has expressed his interest in working as the villain Mogambo in the sequel to  director Shekhar Kapoor's classic film Mr. India, reports Times of India.

Mogambo, the villain who wanted to blow up India in Mr. India, is set to make a comeback in the sequel to the film.

While on the sets of ‘Wanted,' Salman Khan showed interest in working in the film to producer Boney Kapoor who was contemplating making a sequel.

Boney Kapoor immediately contacted his scriptwriter Anees Bazmi to write a role for Salman Khan in the film. And so Salman is now set to step into the legendary villain Mogambo's shoes, immortalized by the late Amrish Puri. This will be Salman's first ever negative role.

Over the years the character of Mogambo has developed a cult following that owes much of it's popularity to dialogues such as ‘Mogambo khush hua' and to the sheer ambition of his evil plans.

A source close to Salman told TOI, 'Salman loved the idea and is quite open-minded about playing a negative role. Salman will be playing a terrorist who wants to rule over India and the story will be about how Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and their gang try to free the country with the help of another invention made by Anil Kapoor.'

Mr. India was released in 1987 and it went on to become one of the most successful films and a popular classic of Hindi cinema. The film marked another feather in the cap of scriptwriting duo Salim-Javed, who have written the scripts of other classics as such as Sholay and Deewar.
