Padmaavat: Karan Johar lauds Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, calls it ‘bonafide blockbuster’

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat featuring actors Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor has crossed Rs 100 crore mark at the box office.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest release Padmaavat featuring actors Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh is not only receiving good reviews from the audience but is also performing well at the box office. After veteran actors Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, ace director Karan Johar has praised the film to heights calling it a bonafide blockbuster. Padmaavat has successfully crossed Rs 100 crore mark at the box office.

Karan took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “Huge Congratulations to the magnificent team of #Padmavat ! The maestro Sanjay Leela Bhansali! The magical trio @deepikapadukone @shahidkapoor and @RanveerOfficial ! A bonafide BLOCKBUSTER!! A validation of conviction and passion!”

The talented actors of the film are heaped with praises for their spectacular performances. In fact, Ranveer, who played the role of Alauddin Khilji, received flowers and handwritten note from veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan for his menacing act.

Deepika also received praises from ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor’s parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. In order to thank his fans, Shahid recently surprised people by visiting the theatre during the show of Padmaavat.

On a related note, after facing protests, the film was finally released. Akshay Kumar pushed the release date of his upcoming film Pad Man after SLB’s request. The movie has become Deepika’s seventh film to cross Rs 100 cr mark. The numbers are expected to rise in coming days.
