Ever since, Pehredaar Piya Ki aired on small screen, it raised many eyebrows owing to its cringeworthy story where a 9-years-old gets married to a girl almost double of his age. Viewers took a step and singed an online petition seeking ban on the show. The petition is addressed to Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles and Information and Broadcasting, Smriti Zubin Irani. Now, the makers have finally reacted on the issue saying that the criticism is unjustified.
A source revealed to a leading daily that Pehredaar Piya Ki doesn’t promote child marriage and the wedding night sequence that is receiving viewers’ wrath has the lead Diya criticising the ritual. he went on to say that in the episode, Diya was seen saying that their wedding is not to enjoy marital pleasures.
Tejasswi Prakash, who plays the lead on the show refused to talk on the petition saying that she has no clue about it. Actor Suyyash Rai, who has been supporting the show calling it different stated that he is still wondering the reason of hullabaloo over wedding night sequence as there was nothing in it. He added that along with being an entertaining show, many people are earning their livings with it. He requested people not to watch the show if they are not liking it but don’t put down their hardwork.
Not only common people but celebrities like Karan Wahi also slammed the show and asked makers not to sell stupidity on the name of a TV show.
The fate of the TV show will be decided in coming days.
