Also, Gully Boy will have its world premiere at 69th Berlin International Film Festival which will take place from February 7 to February 17. The film is bankrolled by Zoya Akhtar’s brother Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. The film celebrates the struggles of street rappers from Mumbai. It is also said to be inspired by the life of rapper Divine.

"It is the story which represents Mumbai in its true sense and the city is my home town, these are my people, this is my language so this is the story I am really attached to. It's an underdog story about a kid who broke through from great adversity in life to make it as a recording artist," Ranveer told IANS.
