The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main April session 2026 is scheduled to be held from April 2. JEE Main paper one (BE/ BTech) will be held in both the shifts; shift one from 9 am to 12 noon and shift two from 3 pm to 6 pm.
The candidates who will appear for JEE Main 2026 need to carry admit card at the exam centre and should report half an hour to an hour before the exam. For morning shift, the candidates should reach the exam centre by 8:30 am, while for afternoon shift, they should reach the exam centre by 2:30 pm.
"On the exam day, several pre-examination formalities need to be completed; therefore, please arrive on time. Please reach the venue of the Test at the reporting time mentioned in the admit card. If you report beyond the gate closing time of the Centre, you not be allowed to enter the Test venue. Instructions have been issued for strict will compliance," NTA notification mentioned.
JEE Main 2026: Important documents to carry on the exam day
- The candidates should carry hall ticket at the exam centre, without it, they will not be allowed to enter the exam centre
- Candidate must carry at least two passport photographs.
- A valid Photo ID Proof as uploaded in online application form in original, photocopies, images stored on mobile phones, as mentioned in NTA notification.

Morning of the exam
Wake up early and stay relaxed—avoid heavy studying
Eat light; avoid oily or heavy food

First, scan the paper

Section-wise strategy
Start with your strongest subject
A commonly followed order:
- Chemistry (quick scoring)
- Physics
- Mathematics (time-consuming).
However, prioritise your strengths over general trends.
Paper attempting strategy
Attempt only easy and direct questions
Solve moderate-level questions
Attempt difficult questions (only if time permits) .
Time Management
Do not spend more than 1–1.5 minutes stuck on a question
If stuck, mark it for review and move on
Reserve the last 10–15 minutes for review.
Avoid common mistakes
Blind guessing (due to negative marking)
Spending too long on one difficult question
Panicking if the paper feels tough (it is tough for everyone)
Checking the time too frequently, which increases anxiety.
