New Delhi: LG's latest flagship smartphone, the G2, is now available in India for Rs. 40,499, though not officially. The handset's 32GB variant is now listed on ecommerce website, Saholic, which mentions the delivery date as September 30.

South Korean manufacturer LG is all set to launch its G2 smartphone in India on September 30, at an event in Delhi. The device was earlier launched at international level last month.

As per estimates, LG is expected to price G2 in the range of Rs 40,000-45,000 in the market. A lot of high-end smartphones fall into this bracket. The G2 competes against the likes of HTC One, Sony Xperia Z, Nokia Lumia 925, Samsung Galaxy S4 as well as Samsung Galaxy Note III and the iPhone 5S and 5C.

Overall, the LG G2 has an appealing design, although the phone is let down by plastic build. The LG G2's design has been built around keeping the phone as small as possible, while incorporating an expansive display. The reduced bezel, down to just 2.65mm - half that of its leading rivals – gives a boost to the phone's already oversized 5.2-inch screen.

The LG G2 has a 5.2-inch full HD screen (with a slightly reduced bezel), marginally bigger than the 5-inch display that rivals like Galaxy S4 and Xperia Z have. The smartphone offers 1080x1920 display, with an impressive 423 pixels-per-inch (PPI). It is powered by Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor capable of delivering speeds up to 2.26GHz. The device comes with 2GB RAM and offers 16GB and 32GB storage options. On paper this is even more powerful than the octa-core processor found in Galaxy S4 sold in India.

In a surprising move, the LG G2 has relocated all physical controls to the phone's rear, with the volume rocker and power/lock buttons now sat directly beneath the camera lens. To some it may feel awkward and confusing at first. Strikingly, reaching to the rear of the phone to lock the screen feels far more awkward than simply tapping a top or side-mounted control.

On the rear, the LG G2 has a 13.0-megapixel camera while on the front the device has an Optical Image Stabilisation 2.1-megapixel shooter. The smartphone runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. LG G2 measures 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9mm and will be available in Black and White colour options.

The smartphone runs on the 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset and comes pre-loaded with Android 4.2. LG G2 has a 13MP rear camera, 3,000mAh battery and 2GB RAM. For connectivity, it comes with 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, infrared and microUSB 2.0.

"Our definition of innovation today is technology that truly resonates with consumers. We have always listened to and learned from consumers in pursuit of innovation. We took these insights to new heights in developing LG G2, the most exciting and ambitious mobile phone in our company's history," Dr Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications had said.

LG G2 comes with features like Answer Me, Plug & Pop, Text Link, Slide Aside, and a Guest Mode.

The G2 comes with an interesting Answer Me function that automatically lowers the ringer volume of an incoming call if it senses the handset is being picked up. Simply raise the phone to your ear while it's ringing and you'll automatically answer the incoming call. LG also lets you decide how long it should take to answer the phone call once you raise the phone to your face.

Then there's also QuickRemote (seen in the Optimus G Pro), that allows users to use G2 as a remote for other devices like TVs via an IR blaster on the top edge. Interestingly, you can program in multiple devices and merge them into one virtual universal remote. There is also a Guest Mode which is a privacy protection setting that launches when a guest unlocks your phone by drawing a different pattern than your own.

In addition, Plug & Pop recommends options or related features to choose from when the earphone or USB cable is detected. Also the Text Link option allows information embedded in text messages to be selected and easily saved in a memo or calendar and searched on a map or the Internet.

As a answer to Samsung S View, LG is offering its users Quick Window cases – a flip cover that protects the smartphone from scratches – covering both the screen and the rear. . It features a special cutout in the middle of the top portion of the case in order to provide access to the screen.
