New Delhi: A great place to work is one where you take pride in what you do and enjoy the company of people you work with. Experts say the people are interested in workplaces that are clear leaders in learning, and offer roles that aid their development, roles that involve stretch.The annual BT-PeopleStrong Survey, carried out in association with Naukri.com, has rated internet giant Google at the top, followed by technology and consultancy services firm Accenture.According to BT, the objective of the survey was to understand the perceptions and aspirations of India's employees across industries. The survey also aimed to provide feedback to companies about what employees think of them, the qualities staff like in a company and what factors attract people and which demoralise them.For the overall rankings, respondents were asked to choose five companies across industries which they thought were the best to work in, and rank them. Then, they ranked the top three companies on six specific criteria - career growth prospects, financial compensation, worklife balance, performance evaluation, stability, and other HR practices. The company makes sure that employees are happy at work. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)Rank: 3Index score: 82.14The company topped the ranking last year but this year it slipped to the third spot. TCS ranks high on performance evaluation, HR practices and stability.Infosys TechnologiesRank: 4Index score: 69.5From second position last year, the company has fallen to fourth place this year. Employees appreciate the company on aspects like performance evaluation, stability and career growth prospects. Larsen & ToubroRank: 5Index score: 65.82Larsen & Toubro has jumped five ranks from being at tenth position last year. The company prefers to groom leaders within the organization due to its view that few outside can match the quality of its workforce in heavy engineering and construction. BHELRank: 6Index score: 61.24BHEL is the only PSU listed among the top 10 best employers in India. The company has scored high due to HR practices, stability and financial compensation. IBMRank: 7Index score: 61.05 IT giant IBM is the fifth IT company to be listed among top employers in India. IBM is rated high in terms of work life balance, HR practices, and performance evaluation stability. Tata MotorsRank: 8Index score: 56.61Tata Motors is the only automobile company among the top 10 employers. It ranks high on performance evaluation, stability and other HR practices.WiproRank: 9Index score: 54.2Wipro was ranked third last year, but this year it has slipped to ninth place. It scored good in work life balance, performance evaluation, stability and other HR practices. Hindustan UnileverRank: 10Index score: 48.54Hindustan Unilever scores high financial compensation, work life balance and stability.MicrosoftRank: 11From number seven spot last year, the company has slipped to eleventh position this year. It offers its workers flexi-timings and enough freedom to set their agenda. Tata SteelRank: 12The company is rated high in terms of its HR practices and employee benefits. ABBRank: 13The company offers excellent HR practices.Bharti AirtelRank: 14Bharti Airtel is well admired for the growth prospects it offers. State Bank of IndiaRank: 15The State Bank of India is ranked high in terms of career growth. ONGCRank: 16ONGC is a safe bet for career. It is a well known fact that few companies can match ONGC's infrastructure and range. Axis BankRank: 17Axis Bank combines the finest of the public and private sectors.
