Festive discounts on cars: who's offering what?

New Delhi, Oct 25: If you are dreaming of buying a new car for you and your family, then this may be the right time to go for it. Hoping to revive the sluggish sales seen during most part of the year due to higher inflation and interest rates, the automakers in the country are going all out to encourage car buyers this festival season. Carmakers, including Honda Siel Cars, Tata Motors, Nissan, General Motors, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, are offering incentives like loans at low rates, straight cash discounts, free insurance, gold coins, loyalty exchange bonus, accessories, and electronic freebies like LEDs, in a bid to boost the market sentiment. Analysts say though the consumers have the appetite, as well as ability to spend, they have been shying away from the purchase due for better deals and rising fuel prices. They advise consumers to read the fine print and contact the seller if they have any questions about the discount advertised before going for the purchase.Here's our take at what carmakers are offering to consumers. HondaHonda is offering car insurance at Re 1 on the purchase of select variants of Brio, City, Civic and Accord and a cash discount worth Rs 10,000 and Rs.15,000. To make the purchase of Brio an attractive option, the carmaker is also offering 32” LED TV by Hitachi worth Rs. 45,000 with Brio SMT(O) & VMT variants.VolkswagenVolkswagen is offering extra features like navigation system, rear parking distance control and leather seat covers at no extra cost, for its Polo hatchback and Vento sedan under the 'Breeze ' scheme.Ford IndiaIn order to minimize the slowdown impact, Ford India has come out with good deals. It is offering gift vouchers and loyalty exchange bonus to its customers. The automaker said it had received good response in return of the scheme it started earlier in Kerala. Ford is giving accessories worth Rs 52,000 to buyers of its sports utility vehicle Endeavour. In addition, the company is providing up to Rs 20,000 as loyalty bonus to those buyers who exchange their old Ford car. The buyers of Figo are offered discounts and free insurance, worth Rs 28,000. General MotorsGeneral Motors has just launched a new version of its entry level small car Chevrolet Spark, starting at Rs 3.26 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Along with the model, the company is offering a three-year/100,000-km standard warranty under the Chevrolet Promise Cost of Ownership Programme , which also provides free maintenance for three years or 45,000 km (whichever is first). The company is also offering cash discounts ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 on the petrol versions of Spark and Beat along with a Rs 10,000 gold coin on the purchase of Beat Diesel. SkodaConsumers can avail freebies worth Rs 15,000 to Rs 45,000 along with Fabia and Rapid models. NissanNissan, which is struggling to drive volume sales with its Micra hatchback, is offering 2 gram of gold coin, exchange offer, and extended warranty on Sunny, Sunny Diesel and Micra. Tata MotorHomegrown auto major Tata Motors is also offering various discounts and schemes for its passenger vehicles. The company is offering schemes ranging from Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000 depending on the model. ToyotaThe company is extending exchange bonus worth Rs 15,000 and gift vouchers worth Rs 15,000 on its Etios, Altis and Liva models. Maruti Suzuki IndiaThe company is not offering any discount on its recently launched Alto 800 and Swift Dzire. HyundaiHyundai's popular model Santro Xing GL Plus and GLS are offered insurance waiver (Rs. 11,275), plus Rs. 14,000 in cash discount.
