Best smartphones of Consumer Electronics Show 2014 [See Pictures]

New Delhi: The annual Consumer Electronics Show is America's largest trade show, attracting gadget makers of all stripes from around the world to Las Vegas. The show is a huge platform for smartphone makers to come out with their latest flagship devices along with new hardware and upgrades. This year plenty of smartphone makers launched their devices to showcase the latest technology and attain user attention. Here is our list of some of the best smartphones showcased at CES 2014:LG G FlexLG announcede that its curved and slightly bendable G-Flex smartphone will hit the US by April in partnership with telecom firms AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. The G-Flex uses flexible OLED (organic light-emitting diode) to produce a curved six-inch display. "G-Flex is the world's first curved and flexible smartphone," said LG Electronics USA mobile communications head Frank Lee. The high-definition curved screen is powered by a similarly curved battery and designed to bend slightly, if for example the user accidentally sits on it.Sony Xperia Z1SAt CES 2014, Sony announced that the Xperia Z1S will be available in US through T-Mobile starting January 22 and will be priced at $22 per month for two years or will be available at $603 outright (without contract). The Xperia Z1S has similar specifications as the Xperia Z1, though the former comes with a higher IP58 waterproof rating, which means the device, can be submerged into water for more time and depth. The Sony Xperia Z1S comes with 5-inch full-HD Triluminos display powered by Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. It is powered by 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 processor along with 2GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box with Sony's custom skin on top, similar to the one seen on the Xperia Z1. The Z1S offers 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS sensor alongside BIONZ image processor engine and pulsed LED flash. It also includes a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It packs in 3000mAh battery. Connectivity options on the Xperia Z1 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Xperia Link and 3G.Sony Xperica Z1 Compact At CES 2014, Sony also launched the mini-variant of Xperia Z1, dubbed the Xperia Z1 Compact. The new device has similar features as Xperia Z1. The Z1 Compact features a 4.3-inch Triluminos HD (720x1280) display with X-Reality for Mobiles. It is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 processor along with 2GB of RAM, much like the elder sibling, Xperia Z1. Built from a single aluminium frame with tampered glass on back and front panel, the Z1 Compact runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It offers 16GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable up to 64GB with the help of microSD card.The highlight of the Xperia Z1 Compact is again the 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS sensor alongside BIONZ image processor engine and pulsed LED flash, as seen in Xperia Z1. It also includes a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ GLONASS and NFC. The Xperia Z1 Compact packs a 2300mAh battery with STAMINA mode and is waterproof and dust-proof smartphone, like other high-end Xperia smartphones.Huawei Ascend Mate2 4GHuawei launched a refreshed version of the Ascend Mate phablet at CES 2014, called the Ascend Mate 2 4G. The new device has the same 6.1-inch HD IPS+ LCD display and is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor (MSM8928), along with an Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It runs Huawei's Emotion UI 2.0 skinned on top of Android. It features a 13-megapixel autofocus HDR-capable f/2.0 rear camera, and a 5-megapixel f/2.4 front-facing camera. The Ascend Mate 2 comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage, as opposed to 8GB from its predecessor. Huawei has also upgraded the Ascend Mate's radio, hence the 4G moniker, with LTE-support up to 150 Mbps download, and 50 Mbps upload. Asus PadFone XThe global variant of ASUS PadFone Mini is made exclusively for US-based carrier, AT&T. The new PadFone X features a combination of 5-inch full HD smartphone and a 9-inch full HD tablet base. The company did not reveal too many details about specifications. Pricing and availability were also not mentioned. The device is running on Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Android 4.4 KitKat.Asus PadFone MiniTaiwanese computer electronics giant, Asus unveiled the 4-inch Asus PadFone mini that fits into a 7-inch tablet dock. The PadFone mini runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and is skinned with the Asus' ZenUI. The dual-SIM (micro SIM) Asus PadFone mini features a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) IPS+ LED-backlit display and comes with a tablet dock that is built around a 7-inch WXGA (800 x 1280 pixel) IPS+ LED-backlit display. The PadFone mini is powered by a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor with four threads, and is coupled with 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM. Other specifications include 8GB of built-in storage (expandable via microSD card up to 64GB), an 8-megapixel 'PixelMaster' rear f/2.0 BSI camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 4.5Wh 1170mAh non-removable polymer battery.Asus ZenFonesAt CES, Asus unveiled a new line of low-cost Android smartphones, dubbed Zenfones. The devices, which come in a range of 4-, 5- and 6-inches, have dual-core Intel Atom processors inside and run a skinned version of Android 4.3 that ASUS is calling Zen UI. The phone comes in a wide array of colors, including candy-colored pastels and deeper gold and red along with Asus' Zen user interface and Android 4.3.Lenovo Vibe ZHighlighting Lenovo's 2014 Android smartphone lineup at CES 2014 is the new Vibe Z. The phone has a 5.5-inch screen, with a 1080p HD IPS display at 400 pixels per inch. The handset is extremely fast, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. The phone features multi-window app support similar to what Samsung, Sony and LG have been offering on their larger Android devices for quite some time.The handset comes with a silver or titanium body with a laser-etched, fabric-feel rear cover. This gives the handset a premium feel that outclasses other glossy plastic phones. Starting at $549, it's a good $100 cheaper than similarly sized phones that are currently on the market. The Vibe Z will be available starting in February in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the Philippines, but we could see a wider European and North American release later on in the year.Lenovo S930The new Lenovo S930 has a 6-inch 1280×720 display and runs on a MediaTek 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (which is expandable thanks to a microSD card slot). It offers 8-megapixel rear and 1.6-megapixel front cameras, front-facing stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio. With a $349 price tag, the S930 undercuts the HTC One max, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra by a few hundred dollars.Lenovo S650Lenovo S650 has a 960x540-pixel resolution 4.7-inch screen, and runs Android 4.2. Like the Lenovo S930, it has an 8-megapixel camera and 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, and a dual SIM card slot.Lenovo A859The Lenovo A859 has a 5-inch LCD IPS screen with a 1,280x720-pixel resolution, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3Ghz quad-core MediaTek processor, and a microSD card slot.ZTE Grand S IIZTE Grand S II has a 5.5-inch full-HD, 1080p display, a top-of-the-line 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and runs on Android 4.3.Cat B100Cat B100 has got a 2.2-inch QVGA 240x320-pixel display, a 3-megapixel camera, and 128MB of storage. This feature phone has an FM radio, assisted GPS, and Bluetooth 2.0. It can survive a 6-foot drop and will stay alive while submerged underwater for up to 30 minutes.
